Dryer Care To Avoid Repair

Posted on

As one of your most convenient appliances in your home, you want to make sure you treat your dryer with the care and maintenance that it deserves. If you don't, then you can find yourself dealing with repairs that could have been avoided and even replacing your dryer before you otherwise would have had to. Here are some of the things you should know about treating your dryer the way it should be to reduce your risk of dryer repair:

Put your dryer on level ground: If your dryer is moving when it is on, then it means it isn't set on level ground. If this is the case then you want to be sure to put it on level ground, so it doesn't rock or move like it currently does. The rocking and/or moving motion is bad on the dryer. It can cause different parts inside of the dryer to shake loose or break apart, leading to the need for repairs or even for you to replace the entire unit depending on how extensive the damage is.

Don't overload your dryer with too many articles of clothing or large items: Just because you can squeeze something into your dryer doesn't mean that you should. If you have a large load of laundry to wash and dry, you should make it two loads instead. If you have a very large comforter or something else that's about this size, then you would be better off taking these types of things down to the local laundromat where you can easily put them into an industrial sized washer and dryer.

Don't set heavy things on the top of the dryer: While your dryer may seem like it would make a great shelf to set things on in your laundry room, you want to be careful not to set heavy objects on it. A dryer can actually dent easily if you aren't careful with it.

Watch how you move your dryer to a new location: When you are moving your dryer, or transporting it to a different location, you want to make sure you carry it carefully and make sure it stays right side up. If you put the dryer on its side, then the parts inside of it will undergo a lot of stress in the wrong direction and this can lead to them becoming broken.

Following these tips should help you prevent certain things from going wrong with it that can lead to the need for repairs.
